Poodles for Equality

Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas and one of their poodles, Basket (Apparently they had three in succession, all named Basket) in an old photo re-published in The Guardian (Dec. 3, 2013).
The Feeder and I thought this slightly bored looking poodle would have approved of the recent Supreme Court ruling. As do we.

BETA, the movie

First there was Rin-Tin-Tin, then Lassie, then Benji, and of course Beethoven and then that ridiculous one crayon short of a full pack, Marley.

Now there is Beta, starring in her first movie directed by Jon Lefkovitz. It is a psychological mysterical historical pastoral and romantical 13 minute movie.

You probably didn't know I have connections with the movie industry - but hey there it is. Beta has a bunch of poodle DNA, so we is cousins.
If you have a teeny bit of time to spare I think you will enjoy this charming, very poodlish flic.

First Selfie

I have had some complaints that I haven't been posting moi as much as I should be, so here I am.
This is my first selfie, taken with the Feeder's box.  She says it will be easier once I get opposable thumbs.

Are white poodles too 60's?

Janie Bryant, as described in this NYT article, is owned by these two lovelies.

She designed the clothes for Mad Men on TV.  I have watched that show with the Feeder, and know that her main comment was that all the clothes look like what she has in her closet.  (Does she need a makeover? ) And how about these poodles?  Do they really need the fluffy pom pom stuff on their legs?  It looks a bit like they are back in the 60's too.

Celebrate

Shortly after I received my new squeaky all vegan rabbit. Like a fuzzy Tofurky.  So happy!

They finally did it.  While I was at the Spa, I got my hairs cut. O the horror!

The so-called groomer was nice enough, but I am not sure if this look is really "me".

Dog philosophy

OK, now most of you know that I can’t actually read. In fact, I only write this blog through a combination of sonar detection, electromagnetic radiation, alternate universe consequences of string theory and the interventions of the Feeder.

Still, this book is interesting and I bring it to your attention. The Feeder got this from the library and what first caught my eye, was that someone had beat me to the punch and had dog-eared the cover before I could get to it. A bit of irony courtesy of the library patrons.

Anyway. The book is a lovely contemplation of walking with dogs. Mystery, adventure, and yes, transcendence can follow when you head through the door for a w-a-l-k.

A novelist and his poodle

So - another story about whether Charley the poodle and his human, John Steinbeck, really did what they said they did on their trip chronicled in the memoir "Travels with Charley". True, when the feeder read parts of it to me it didn't seem likely that he had all the experiences described. But, even if John S. did spin his stories a bit, his take on the USA he saw at that moment (1960) rings true, at least to this dog. Only one real problem with the book from my POV - there wasn't enough info about Charley. for more info see the NYT 4/4/2011:
